Wilson and Meagher Sportstherapy practice believe anything less than maximum efficiency can lead to a problem in performance or even injury. The greatest asset any moving body can have is its complete freedom and ease of motion. Athletes do better when they can move better. Anything that isn't working for you is working against you.
The objective for any therapist practicing the Meagher method of sportsmassage is to increase the freeness and range of motion. The strategy for acheiving this objective is through the application of sportsmassage techniques developed by Jack Meagher.

Wilson and Meagher Sportstherapy is an educational practice that offers a series of training programs for the purposes of teaching the principles of the Meagher method of sportsmassage for both equines and humans.
The Meagher method has been scientifically researched through a grant from the American Massage Therapy Association Foundation. Jo-Ann Wilson, the Principal Investigator of this grant, presented the research findings in the Massage Therapy Journal, summer issue 2002 (see www.amtamassage.org). The impressive results of the research determined that the Meagher method induced a significant increase in range of motion and in muscle tissue. This evidence provides scientific support for the beneficial effects on athletic performance and general function.
The Meagher method is one of a few massage therapy modalities in the world with a scientific foundation. It is an anatomically accurate and specific series of techniques that can enhance a therapist's outcome in their work with their equine or human clients.
