ABOUT JO-ANN WILSON

JO-ANN WILSON, LMT; M.Ed., Director of Wilson Meagher Sports Therapy®

Jo-Ann Wilson, LMT; M.Ed., is a world-renowned clinician, author, teacher, researcher, and licensed massage therapist. Jo-Ann's practice is rich in achievement. She was a longstanding associate and partner of the late Jack Meagher, pioneer of Sportsmassage. Jo-Ann is the Director of Wilson Meagher Sports Therapy, a clinical and educational service which trains massage and physical therapists as well as equine practitioners serving the equine industry in various roles and responsibilities from around the world.

Jo-Ann served as the Physio / Sports Therapist for both the Team Horses and Riders for both the United States and Canada at separate times.

2023 - 2025:Ongoing treatment provided at International Competitions

Daily zoom and phone consultations for all eventing team horses, team physio, and team veterinarians. US Eventing Team, Winners of Team Silver Medal.

Jo-Ann’s work includes serving horses and riders at numerous international competitions to national and local shows. She works with all levels and disciplines of horses, from Olympic to pleasure horses. Her work has been featured in leading magazines such as Practical Horseman, Dressage Today, Hoefslag Magazine (Holland) and was profiled in the Chronicle of the Horse titled “Jo-Ann Wilson Can Change a Horse with Her Hands”, March 2013; and Free Rein with Jo-Ann Wilson, September, 7 &14, 2020. She was also honored to be chosen to be a key speaker at the World Equestrian Games 2010 presenting the Wilson Meagher Method of Sportsmassage titled: “Sportsmassage for the World’s Largest Athlete”. In addition, Jo-Ann was the key speaker for the US Eventing Association Annual Convention in 2019; Her presentation was entitled "Sportsmassage for the Performance Horse".

She is a graduate of the Muscular Therapy Institute, Cambridge Mass. Her work as the principle investigator of a research grant titled “The Science of Complete Motion”, funded by the Massage Therapy foundation in 2001, was published in the American Massage Therapy Journal, Summer 2002 titled: "The Effects of Sportsmassage on Athletic Performance and General Function”. When she was not working for the United States, Jo-Ann was the official Team Therapist for horses and riders for the Canadian Equestrian Team. She served Equine Canada 3 Day Eventing Team at the 2010 World Games, winners of the Team Silver Medal. In her role as Team Therapist for Equine Canada, Jo-Ann worked with Canadian horses and riders at the 2012 London Olympic Games as well as the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France.

Jo-Ann continues to maintain a human practice as well, using the Wilson Meagher Method with her human clients. She is a graduate of the Muscular Therapy Institute, Cambridge, Massachusetts (now Cortiva Institute). Her current practice includes all levels of equestrian sports including eventing, dressage, hunters, jumpers, driving, racing and pleasure horse companions.

As the Director of Wilson Meagher Sports Therapy®, Jo-Ann offers a six day intensive educational program in the Wilson Meagher Method™ of equine sportsmassage to professionals and non-professionals around the world. In addition, she provides live workshops for horse owners, riders, trainers, coaches and college students. Jo-Ann produced a professionally filmed instructional DVD titled: "A Course in Equine Sportsmassage". She has also provides On-line Video Training for specific problems in motion. Jo-Ann has authored a popular hands-on, instructional book on Equine Sportsmassage entitled Keeping Horses at their Best.
